Art Practice BA Senior Project: Felt Friends (2024)
This sculptural wall installation marks my first exploration into needle felting and an intentional exercise in adaptability as an artist. Nearly 100 individually needle felted faces—depicting familiar, mundane subjects such as food and nostalgic cartoon characters—are assembled across a 3-foot-diameter wooden slab that I sanded, painted black, and mounted using a French cleat. Reimagined through surreal and uncanny forms, the faces transform recognizable imagery into something playful and strange. The work explores nostalgia while inviting viewers to find humor and novelty within familiar subjects.
